Continuing my 30 day solar challenge, this time with higher stakes. In the original challenge I kept a single phone charged for 30 days using nothing but a small battery bank and a 100W solar panel, and it turned out to be pretty easy. This time I'm raising the difficulty by keeping three devices charged on solar power for 30 straight days: my phone, my wife's phone, and a handheld ham radio (HT).
To pull this off I upgraded to the Oupes Exodus 350 portable power station, a 350W, 288Wh solar gen

At the Huntsville Hamfest 2026, I sat down with the folks at TN07 to talk about their Triple-Fit Equipment Clamp, a simple but clever mounting solution that fits three of the most common mast diameters used in ham radio and off-grid setups: 1 inch, 1.5 inch, and 2 inch.
I've been running this clamp on my mast to support my Elecrow M6 Meshcore repeater, and it's held up great in the field. No tools required to install it, and you can adjust it quickly on site if you need to reposition your gear.

The Allnode Plus, an AllStar and EchoLink hotspot that also handles DMR BrandMeister, DMR TGIF, YSF, NXDN, P25, D-STAR, and M17, all bridged through an analog FM handheld you already own. Built around a Raspberry Pi 5 with a custom SA818/CM108B board, the Allnode Plus is the only AllStar node on the market with an onboard OLED screen, showing your IP address, callsign, node number, and current connections at a glance instead of digging through your router.
For me the biggest draw is AllStar. It'

Sat down with HamStop, the ham radio Etsy shop out of Denton, Texas, and went through nearly every product they make. If you've ever needed a way to guy out a military mast, adapt a painters pole into an antenna support, or mount an antenna to a camera tripod, this interview covers it.
HamStop is run by Scott, a ham who started designing gear on a fiber laser after realizing there was nothing on the market that solved these specific field antenna mounting problems. What started as one product tu

HelioClock is a fully customizable live Earth clock and situational awareness display built specifically with ham radio operators in mind, and it's quickly becoming known as the subscription free alternative to GeoChron. In this interview, recorded at the Huntsville Hamfest, I sit down with the creator behind HelioClock (call sign KA9NWM) to talk about why he built it, how it works, and what makes it different from a traditional GeoChron display.
HelioClock runs entirely on your own hardware wit
